INTERPRETING SCRIPTURES

(THESE ARE THE RULES OF SCRIPTURES BY WHICH WE CAN ATTAIN ETERNAL LIFE)

RULE 38

The Christian should offer his brethren simple and unpretentious hospitality. For Christ fed the crowd only with fish and bread when He could have served a more sumptuous dish.

And when Christ visited Mary and Martha, He entertained Mary more than Martha who was busy with elaborate preparations.

"Martha, Martha. . .few things, nay, one thing only is necessary."

St. Basil, Morals
