VIGNETTES ON SAINTS
ALEXANDER
BRYANT
He was one
of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. Bryant was born in Somerset
and was converted to Catholicism while a student at Oxford. He came to
London after his training at Douai, where all priests destined for the
British Isle were trained. He was captured, tortured for a year and executed
at Tyburn with fellow saints Edmund Campion and Ralph Sherwin.
