ON POPES, BISHOPS
& RELIGIOUS SUPERIORS
THE SIX POPES
OF ST. MALACHY - HALF-MOON: POPE JOHN PAUL I (LUCIANI)
Malachy describes Pope John Paul
I as "Mediatate Lunae."
A half moon is when the moon
begins to shine. But, as in John Paul I's story, the other half never
shone. . .an incomplete reign.
He reigned for thirty three
days. Like the moon, all honored him, all noticed him, all admired
him. Then. . .all wept for him even if they hardly knew him. By
now, the papacy could not be taken for granted anymore.
