THE MONK FLEES
FROM THE WORLD
The monk flees from the world not because
there is something wrong with the world but because there is something wrong
with him. In the world, given the choice between God and the world, he will
always choose the world. Man's greatest enemy is not the world but his own
concupiscence.
In the world, man becomes a slave to his
concupiscence. Away from the world, Man becomes master of his concupiscence.
