GOSPEL COMMENTARIES

EASTER - MIDNIGHT MASS
(MATTHEW 28:1-10; MARK 16: 1-8; LUKE 24: 1-12)

Christ was born to teach us to remove our errors. And so, when we have learned and obeyed His teachings, we, indeed, are free from errors and truly born again.

He died to heal us, to remove from us the slavery from the fear of death. And so, we must not be afraid to die for Him.

He rose from the dead to reward us. Having died with Him, we can expect heaven to be bestowed on us.

Here, the innocent died to free the guilty. A son is killed that the servant may be free.

Christ kept His wounds so that the saved may be forever grateful to the wounds that saved them, and the sinners forever fearful of the wounds they have caused.

St. Caesarius of Arles
