THE
WORLD IS MY GOD
If people would do for God what they do for
the world, a great number of Christians would go to heaven. If we have to
stay in church as long as we stay in a dance or party, we would be full of
complaints.
If you were asked to go to several churches
to hear several sermons the way you go to several stores to window shop, you
will surely raise a howl; you will resent the former but you will enjoy the
latter.
Ahh. . .nothing is so much much trouble
when done for the world. . .even if there is great danger for the soul to
lose God.
Christ said in truth and with good reason
that the children of this world are more zealous in serving their master,
the world, than the children of light are in serving theirs, God.
When it comes to serving the world and
satisfying our pleasures, we do not fear expense or going into debt; but if
it is for good works, frankly, no one goes into debt for them.
This is true for most Catholics; they have
everything for the world and nothing at all for God because, to them, the
world is everything and God is nothing.
