HUMBLE
ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF OUR OWN DEFECTS
Do
not regard much who is with you or who is against you; but let this
be your greatest concern. . .that God be with you in
everything that you do. Be holy and God will defend you well, and no
evil will hinder or grieve you. Be quiet and suffer for a while and
you will see the help of God come in your need. He knows the time
and place to help you because it is His concern to help and to free
you from all confusions.
It is necessary, however, for the
protection of our humility that other men know our faults and rebuke
us for them. Humility pleases and reconciles us with others.
Besides, God defends and comforts the humble man and sends him
abundant graces. God also reveals His secrets to the humble.
And the sign that you have reached
the perfection of humility is when you feel in your heart that you
have less humility and less virtue than anyone else.
