ALBAN ROE
Alban was
born in Bury, England. He was converted while at Cambridge and underwent
training at Dousi, Belgium, for the priesthood. He returned to England as a
missionary at a time when it was a crime merely to be a priest. He was
arrested, hanged, drawn and quartered for being a Catholic priest. He is one
of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales canonized in 1970.
