RENEWAL MUST BE BASED
ON TRADITION
When Martin Luther
rebelled, he rebelled against a Catholic Church which was not
faithful to Tradition. But the reformers who followed him rebelled
against a tradition of which they were acquainted with. Our
old men today have very little to rebel against because they know
little of Tradition. Our young men know nothing of Tradition
and have nothing left to rebel against. Today, we don't have
rebels; we only have ignorant Catholics who do not have the
faculties to appreciate what Catholicism means and, therefore,
cannot work out their salvation.
Most, if not all
Catholics, do not know what the word "faith" means. Men who
hear it think it signifies either blind acceptance of irrational
statements which common experiences tend to condemn. Though
such words as dogma and theology still impress, the queen of
theological subjects, ascetical theology, is a figment of the mind,
an unreality, something insignificant.
