PATIENCE
My dearest sister Florentina,
Do not torture or torment any
sister; instead, endure them patiently and bear humbly any wrong that you
suffer. "By your patience, you will win your soul."
The anger of a sister will be better subdued by your patience. Do not
inflame her anger by a harsh reply. By your patience, the angry sister
will become humble and quiet; and thus, her salvation will be added to your
credit.
Exult when souls triumph, be
saddened by their downfall. Imitate those who triumph and encourage
them by words to triumph even further. If they are lazy or addicted to
the pleasures of the flesh, arouse them to good living and good
deeds.
Do not sound learned in your
speech but rather accompany your speech with good deeds so that you may show
by your deeds what you have taught by words.
