A PROPHECY ON THE
MONASTIC MOVEMENT
"Monasticism will exist up to the end
of the world. But only a few will be saved. Many monks will be
lost because there will be great negligence, great hardening of the heart,
many errors and incompetent shepherds. The most neglectful shall rule
over the good and the lax shall vanquish the fervent by their sheer
number. Bad men shall become superior and ignorant men shall become
shepherds and constantly fighting for ranks. The just shall be
persecuted by the wicked and everything divine in religious life shall be
changed to human.
"The few that shall be saved are those
who look at the example of the early saints, counting on them for
light. These few, though with no one to guide them to the truth, shall
attain salvation."
