PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit comes into one's soul in two different ways:  firstly, secretly, where He comes little by little according to one's obedience to the commands of Christ.  Then, secondly, openly, as on Pentecost.  

At first, He comes in the form of a great desire to be holy.  If the soul follows this desire, then Christ reveals one of His commands to the soul.  The Holy Spirit helps the soul understand the command and teaches him how to obey the command.    

If the soul obeys the command of Christ, then the Holy Spirit increases His presence within the soul.
