PRIDE IS
THE HEART OF SIN
Pride is at
the heart of the concept of sin. Sin is always a form of arrogation, a
claim, to be independent of God and in reality death. To claim that
you can love without any help from God is an arrogation of something that
belongs to God alone for God is love.
Sin is a perverse
imitation of God wherewith one shows he is capable of loving but without
substance. the sinner is a mortal pretending he is immortal. Sin
is the will to retain or pursue what justice forbids and from which there is
freedom for man to abstain.
Anyone who commits
sin willingly chooses folly over wisdom and as a consequence becomes
troublesome and ignorant of divine doctrine. Ignorance is that
falsehood looks like the truth and he cannot distinguish between the two.
And because his will becomes blind, he desires what is incorrigible and
dangerous.
This is the
spiritual state of all men today because of original sin and their
consequent sins. . .they became spiritually and morally incompetent.
Sin is the choice of evil over good. It can be avoided through intense
and unceasing prayer. Man's inexcusable fault is his refusal to turn
to God for help. . .this is pride.
